All Points Honors Charles Bennett at Retirement Celebration

Merritt Island, FL – All Points is proud to honor team member Charlie Bennett in his retirement after almost 10 years of service to the company. This week, he was celebrated with a retirement luncheon at the corporate headquarters in Merritt Island, Florida.  During his time with All Points, Charlie worked at KSC, supporting the Materials & Processes group on the Orion program.

Pictured is Charlie receiving a “Giant Leap for Mankind” coin from All Points Vice President/General Manager, Kevin Repa, to help commemorate his “big leap” into retirement.

We asked Charlie to share some of his thoughts from his time at All Points.

What brought you to All Points in 2014 and what was your first position here?

Steve Lloyd recruited me. Before completion of Shuttle transition and retirement, I had done some work for his [USA] team supporting Sierra Nevada’s bid for commercial crew. When he found Lockheed-Martin looking for contract Materials and Processes/Contamination Control engineer, he called me and asked if I was still looking for work (post Shuttle Layoffs). I replied, “yes,” and the rest is history. I worked my entire tenure with All Points as a Sr. Staff Materials and Processes Engineer, supporting the Orion Program.

What is your favorite memory from working at All Points?

My favorite All Points memories are of the Christmas parties that were held. In my work, contracted to Lockheed Martin, my favorite memory is being the second-to-the-last person to be in the Orion Spacecraft prior to launch after performing contamination control inspection. A quality inspector followed me out, after which the hatch was closed for flight of the EFT- 1 (first orbital flight of Orion) mission.

What is one piece of advice you would give a new All Points team member coming on board now?

LISTEN to your customer, and get to know their needs as rapidly as possible.

What is one thing you’re most looking forward to in your new retirement?

[Figuratively] crushing my alarm clock! It will allow considerably more evening flexibility; working my days at MY pace.

All Points would like to thank Charlie for all his years of service, and we wish him all the best in his retirement.
